Section 4 Thoughts

            On section 4, I have a few good sources and actual experience with my topic now. Over break, I was suppose to accomplish finishing my 8 paragraphs and have reliable sources with some interviews. I talked to my sisters about their careers so far and how it's going. I know a lot of their backgrounds because i was with them during these transformations. I found a good book source that talks about the transformation from a "civilian" to a "Marine." I do enjoy the research because I have found a lot about what all I will face in a few months from now. I love the process and this assignment is helping mentally prepare me for it all a bit more.

              Yes, I do agree with Egan because I've actually used a few of his ideas during my high school career and I am in the process of trying to become a young adult, finding new ways to show your maturity is a somewhat hard thing to do. I look at some of my peers who in my eyes look and act very mature. It looks "cool" and something that sticks with you, so through the past few years of growing into a young adult, I have tried to become mature in my own way while still trying to remain a "jokster." Sycamore does offer us the opportunity to grow in the way Egan describes. They let us socialize in the hallways and let us have a few minutes of freedom but enough to where it's like an adult's job. For example they give us each a 30-minute lunch period just like an adult has for their job, they have 30 minutes to eat and get back to class. That is a prime example of comparing us to what adult's get for their jobs. Sycamore also lets us control our own destinies, they let us go down the path of pass or fail. If you chose to take time and do your work then you shall pass, but if you chose to fail then you need to fix that or let yourself go down. They will sometimes call you to the office to discuss your grades and even put you in a guided study hall, but they're only trying to help with your success.
